This is about spending a few winter days in the Hague tasting cheese. My two grown up kids live in The Hague where they are both studying Fine Arts.
The Hague reminds me of Copenhagen in Denmark, where I lived for many years.
If you travel to The Netherlands, you must go visit The Hague, which is quite different from Amsterdam. The Hague is calm and beautiful, and there are only a few tourists especially during the winter.
There are nice food shopping options. Visit the organic supermarkets called Ekoplaza, and best of all; the cheese shop called Ed Boele in Fahrenheitstraat!! For many years this shop won a price of being the best cheese shop in the Netherlands.
See picture from the shop.

What do I mean by ready-set-go??
Well, I will introduce a new category in my blog. I just had a wonderful five-days-stay in Venice, and that trip gave me an idea. I will start a diary with broader Low Carb High Fat issues. These will be shorter in comparison with the recipes and the information on LCHF principles in general. The content will be based upon my travels and my thoughts.
By the way, the soft shell crabs in the picture are from Busa Alle Torre, a fantastic restaurant on the lovely island Murano open for lunch. Since 2008 they have had a Michelin star every year, and the place is nevertheless the most quiet and relaxed place, I visited for a long time.
Ready-Set-Go
Please read my diary from time to time and get inspiring news, tips & tricks, and reports from where I go. I travel frequently to the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, United States and Italy, and I would like to share inspiration from these trips. All my shared posts will follow the Low-Carb High-Fat strategy for my blog. Let’s get started! Ready-set-go!!
My trip to Venice was a week in August together with my daughter. She is 23 years old, so we had a lot of fun, as we share the same interests. We went to Guggenheim Museum, and we visited Murano but no other islands. I have earlier visited Torcello, which is the place the first citizens inhabited in the lagoon the, and also St. Michele, the graveyard island. Burano is also with visiting and there are a lot of nice restaurants out there. I will later write about the best restaurants in Venice where we had dinner. This was an appetiser. Stay tuned 🙂
Just a few words about deep frying fish and veggies while working in an outdoor kitchen. When we’re in Andalusia we’re preparing most of our meals outside using the barbecue and the deep-fryer.
This summer was no exception. We have an old induction stove and no oven in the kitchen in the house. We practically live at the terrace. The good news is that during the winter to come, we’re rebuilding the kitchen and installing a gas hob and an oven. In the future my summer recipes will reflect this and cover a wider range of meals. Until then, please find the recipes on deep frying fish and veggies, such as anchovies, aubergine, squid and red mullets.
In case you don’t have access to deep frying your food or if you find it difficult handling the amounts of oil, you can use a frying pan instead. Just ensure the oil goes 1/2 inch up, and turn your food around frequently.
